Tim and Joe chat about Emotions and how they control you and you need to control them.

It’s easy to ride the waves of success. It’s also easy to accomplish goals that match your talents. It’s very easy to have an opinion after the event was long gone. Life is easy when things go our way. The reason for that is simple; there is no test of character or ability. Wouldn’t life be so relaxing if all of our events went this way? I guess it would but we all know that will not be the case. 

There is one story in the bible that has always stuck with me through all these years. It’s the story of the old poor woman who comes to church and gives a penny for the collection. She’s looked at as a cheap person but when you dig down and look into the story of this woman, it’s all she had. The comparison would be like us putting hundreds or thousands of dollars into that basket. I really don’t know where I am going with this today but as I said, that story has always registered with me. I’m kidding and hopefully accomplished a smile or two. 

Life was never meant to be easy all of the time. Things don’t always go for the good. These are the times when your faith will be tested. When the weight seems more then you can handle, think back to the faith of that poor old woman. She gave the last cent of her life but kept the one thing of value that was worth more in the end; her faith in God that another penny will show up today and her world was complete again till tomorrow. Reaching for help from others or God doesn’t make you weak, it makes you better and stronger. Some days we all need someone to pick us back up and give us a push! Peace, love and faith to you all!!

On my way to church one Sunday, I heard one of my favorite rock songs on the radio; Stairway to Heaven. I have to say that it was the first time in all my years of going to church that it came on just before I got there. Coincidence? Maybe?

In the song are these two verses; “There’s a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure, Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.” One thing that I have noticed in my 60 years is that life has many meanings and there are always signs on the wall to read each time you cross a new path. It is up to you to pay attention to those signs and most importantly, adjust your direction when needed. 
I have found over time that it is easy to get caught up in the euphoria of success, the good life and the hollowness of money. Sometimes these good things numb our senses, driving us away from the really important in life. Making your mark is a great thing in life, but you just need to know that everything else has its importance for a good and fulfilling life. 

Life holds true to the saying; How would we really know happiness if we didn’t experience sadness. I guess the point I am trying to make like the song did, is that putting meaning into your life should be your first priority. The signs that you eventually notice point you in that same direction. It’s not always about what we get in life as much as it is what we learn and what we give back to it that brings true meaning to it. 

I’m here to tell you that it’s up to you to recognize that you can be better and more capable of a lot more than you could imagine. The signs are there to maybe stop you of complaining, making excuses and not taking control. Only you can make the changes that you want. Yes, “there are two paths you can go by but in the long run, there’s still time to change the road you’re on.” 

“To be a rock and not to roll” has to be the epitome of hell on earth. You were meant to be more! Remember, “there’s no buuuuyying the Stairrrrway…… to Heaaaven! Make it a great day everyone!! See the signs and act!

Our 4th Installment of our #FiresideChat series – “Thinking” Thinking about what are doing, your plan to reach your goals and changing your #thinking if what you are doing is not working for you…

We find out as we get older that life seems to come around full circle, over and over again. One of the most important things to remember is that we need to keep beginning and failing, beginning and failing and then we begin all over again, and fail. Each time we hit the cycle, we understand ourselves that much more. We become stronger, smarter, more resilient and readier to take on a new purpose, a purpose that we had never thought possible. Frustration and problems make you want to quit but you hang strong anyways. 

I had a young friend ask me recently: “Wouldn’t it be easier if we only had to do something once and get it?” That one was hard to argue with but eventually convinced her that the knowledge was hidden in the crevices of the cycle. To understand success, you have to marry frustration for a while.

How is it that we get wiser each time around I hear you ask? I can equate it to the saying, “The more we know, the more we know that we don’t know.” The mind grows at each cycle because every time that we start, we start with a new and clearer perspective. The more we keep it going, the more the mind grows and understands. The more you repeat, the more it becomes habit and you don’t have to think about it as much anymore.

What do you think is stopping you from new opportunities or achieving your goals? Take the time to write down all these things that you believe is stopping you and work on them, over and over again till they are gone from your mind. How many times will it take? It will take you as long as it takes to find a new and better you. Remember, you never actually fail, you just need to practice more.

Don’t fret, don’t quit, you will get there in time! Make it a great day everyone! Believe in the cycle and the process will eventually set you free.
